FACILITIES • SAFETY • BOND LEADERSHIP

Building more than facilities. Building belief.

Under Herbert O’Neil’s leadership, Hempstead ISD passed its first bond in more than two decades and began building the district’s first new school in almost three decades. The work reflects a clear commitment to safety, modern learning environments, community trust, and long-term district transformation.

BEFORE THE BUILDINGS

The real work started before construction.

Facilities leadership begins long before dirt moves. It starts with understanding the need, building trust, communicating the vision, and creating the conditions for a community to believe in what is possible.

01 Build the case.

Clarify the need and connect facilities to safety, learning, and student experience.

02 Build trust.

Communicate the vision clearly enough for the community to understand it and support it.

03 Build momentum.

Move from approval to visible progress with focus, follow-through, and accountability.

Historic Bond 20+ yrs

First successful bond program in more than two decades.

New School 30 yrs

First new campus construction in almost three decades.

Prop A 73%

Community approval for the new school, safety, and campus upgrades.

Prop B 68%

Community approval for stadium renovations and athletic improvements.

THE WORK BEHIND THE RESULT

Facilities leadership requires more than construction. It requires vision, trust, safety, and execution.

Safety-Centered Planning

Facility improvement efforts were tied to safer, more secure learning environments and better conditions for students, staff, and families.

Community Confidence

Strong voter approval reflected a community willing to invest in the future because the vision was clear and the need was real.

Long-Term Transformation

The bond program represented more than upgrades. It signaled momentum, pride, and a commitment to moving Hempstead ISD to higher heights.

From vision to voter confidence to visible progress.

This work demonstrates the ability to lead complex facility conversations, build community support, manage major priorities, and deliver improvements that strengthen safety, student experience, and public confidence.
